Drum for fun at a spiritual gathering in Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY — This Sunday, May 13, at 1 p.m., drummer Matt Meyer will conduct a workshop in Middlebury at Champlain Valley Unitarian-Universalist Society (CVUUS) on “Drumming and Spirituality.”
The workshop is a chance for people of all skill levels to participate in hands-on rhythm-making. It will tour instruments from around the world and experience the connection of community music-making through different activities, stories, games and discussions, as well as look at how rhythm and music intersect.
Meyer has led music workshops all over the U.S. and Canada. He has a degree in hand drumming from Berklee College of Music in Boston and has studied abroad in Cuba, Ghana and Central America.
Participants may bring their own drum if they have one, but for those who don’t, enough will provided. There is a suggested donation of $10 for workshop participants.
CVUUS is located at 1 Duane Court, near Middlebury Union High School.
