Panther men’s tennis nets NCAA Regional
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury College men’s tennis team will make its 17th-consecutive trip to an NCAA Division III tournament when it hosts a regional this Friday through Sunday.
The Panthers (20-4) will swing into action on Saturday against the winner of a Friday match between Wilkes (20-5) and Colby-Sawyer (9-10). Also on Saturday Johns Hopkins (18-3) will meet the victor of a Friday match between Cabrini (12-5) and MIT (11-7).
The winners will square off on Sunday. Times of the matches will be available at middlebury.edu/athletics.
The Panthers reached the NESCAC final on this past Sunday before losing to top-seeded Bowdoin, 5-3. The Polar Bears improved to 19-1. In matches played at Amherst, Middlebury defeated Williams, 5-1, in Saturday’s semifinal, and Bates, 5-0, in a Friday quarterfinal.
The Panthers reached the 2017 NCAA final before falling to Bowdoin. They were ranked No. 1 in the most recent poll, dating back to April 26, while Bowdoin was No. 3 and Williams No. 4.
