MUHS is the only local boys’ lacrosse winner
ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ lacrosse play in the latter half of last week Middlebury posted a win, while the Mount Abraham/Vergennes team and Otter Valley both came up short.
TIGERS
On Wednesday the Tigers got past Rutland, 15-10, as attacker Jack Donahue racked up six goals and three assists to spark the attack. Kolby Farnsworth (three goals, assist), Sam Hodges (two goals, two assists) and Bode Rubright (goal, assist) also picked up multiple points, and Ben Crawford,Ian Ploof andThatcher Trudeau added a goal apiece. Tiger goalies Cam Devlin (11 saves) andJack Rizzo (two) combined for 13 stops.
Jacob Lorman led the 2-4 Raiders with five goals, and RHS goalie Chris Wilk stopped nine shots.
The Tigers are 4-2; their Friday game at Mount Mansfield was postponed.
EAGLES
On Wednesday visiting Harwood improved to 4-0 by blanking the Eagles, 14-0. Conner Wolley led seven Highlander scorers with four goals, and Harwood goalie Sully O’Hera made five saves. Eagle goalie Grady Brokaw denied 19 Harwood shots as the Mount Abe-VUHS collective dropped to 0-3.
OTTERS
On Thursday the OV lacrosse team gave host Green Mountain Valley a battle before falling, 13-10. Coach Jesse Milliman called it the best effort for his team against the Gumbies during his tenure, and he was happy with the offensive production. “We played them tough the whole game,” Milliman said.
Hayden Gallo led OV (2-4) with five goals, Tim Kittler scored twice, and Zach Scarborough,Justin Tremblay andWesley Smith added a goal apiece. Otter goalie Alec Stevens stopped 15 shots and assisted Gallo with a long outlet pass.
Jackson Jewell led GMVS with seven goals, and goalie Christian Riis made 10 saves. The Otters host the Eagles on Monday.
