Eagle baseball drops three road games
CHITTENDEN COUNTY — The Mount Abraham Union High School baseball team dropped three road games against Chittenden County teams this past weekend, two in walk-off fashion on Saturday in different locations.
The Eagles dropped to 1-4 and will look to bounce back on Tuesday, when they host BFA-Fairfax.
On Friday, host Colchester pounded out a 12-2 win over the Eagles as Laker Tom Colgrove tossed a complete-game four-hitter for the win. Nolan Whitcomb doubled twice for half the Eagle hits, while Eben Clifford took the pitching loss.
In the first of two games on Saturday, host Missisquoi (3-2) prevailed, 5-4, when Kyle Gilbert singled in the decisive run in the bottom of the seventh. Eagle Jared Forand had extended the game with a two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh. Forand finished with three hits and also scored a run. Dustin Whitcomb took the loss for Mount Abe.
The Eagles then headed to Mount Mansfield (2-0), which earned a 5-4, eight-inning victory when Sylas Hallock’s two-out single in the bottom of the first extra inning plated the winning run.
Jacob Hoag poked two hits for the Eagles, including a bases-loaded single in the sixth that gave the Eagles a 4-3 lead.
