College first-year tapped for military honor

SAN ANTONIO — Operation Homefront, serving America’s military families since 2002, has announced that 18-year-old Rachel Flatt, a Middlebury College freshman, was on of 95 semifinalists nationwide for the 2018 Military Child of the Year (MCOY) Award. 
The Military Child of the Year Award reflects the positive impact that these special young people have made on their military families, their schools, and their communities. Flatt, daughter of a U.S. Navy captain, was not one of the seven finalists recently announced.
