High school seniors play in hoop star games
WINDSOR — Eight high school senior athletes participated on Saturday in the annual Vermont Basketball Coaches Association’s North-South all-star games at Windsor High School, and an Otter Valley junior was honored.
Mount Abraham’s Emma Carter and Emma LaRose, Middlebury’s Keagan Dunbar, and Otter Valley’s Gabby Poalino played for the Division I and II girls’ all-star team that lost to the North squad, 97-57. Notably, Dunbar led the South team with nine points and also won the halftime three-point shooting contest.
Vergennes’ Lance Bergmans, Mount Abe’s Jackson Counter, OV’s Josh Letourneau, and Cody Pomainville from MUHS took the floor for the D-I and D-II boys’ squad, which fell to the North seniors, 96-75.
The coaches voted OV junior Dylan Mackie to the D-I and D-II Dream Dozen squad of promising underclassmen, which was unveiled on Saturday.
Among other honorees was VUHS boys’ basketball Coach Peter Quinn, who was recognized for his 200th career victory, a total that includes his career with the VUHS girls.
