Track athletes gain All American status at NCAA D3 meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Two All-American performances highlighted the efforts of Middlebury College track and field athletes at this past weekend’s NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, staged in Birmingham, Ala.
On Saturday Jimmy Martinez earned All-American honors in the 400-meter run, finishing fourth in 48.34.
On Friday Middlebury’s distance medley relay team finished third for the second straight year to earn All-American recognition. The quartet of Nathan Hill, Tyler Farrell, James Mulliken and Kevin Serrao ran the event in 9:57.94, marking the program’s third consecutive All-American finish and the fourth overall, with the other occurring in 2012.
The women’s DMR team of Tasha Greene, Kate McCluskey, Meg Wilson and Abigail Nadler also raced on Friday, finishing 12th in 12:16.33.
McCluskey also competed in the women’s 400 preliminary. She finished in a tie for eighth in 56.30, but just missing the cut for Saturday’s final by 0.003 second.
