Vermont State Police Log: Troopers charge three drivers with DUI

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police reported three drunk driving citations last week in Addison County, and responded to a domestic violence situation.
First, on Feb. 15 at 2:30 p.m. state police received information of a possible intoxicated driver on Route 100 in Rochester. Police report that they located the vehicle and driver at his residence in Granville. They cited Mark Hammond, 48, of Granville, for DUI.
The second and third DUI citations were issued in Ferrisburgh on Feb. 17 to pickup truck drivers. At midnight on that date, state police pulled over a silver, 2017 Toyota Tacoma on Route 7 after observing an equipment violation. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, troopers detected signs of impairment in the driver they identified as 24-year-old Jeffrey Badger of Shelburne. After screening Badger for driving under the influence, police took him to the New Haven barracks for processing, cited him for DUI and released him.
The third DUI citation was assessed almost 24 hours later after troopers stopped a white, 2008 Ford F-150 on Middlebrook Road in Ferrisburgh at 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 17 after observing an equipment violation. Troopers said driver Cody Brown, 26, of Ferrisburgh showed signs of impairment. Police took Brown to the barracks and cited him for DUI.
The domestic violence case took place on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, when state troopers responded to a residence on Samson Road in Cornwall at 5 a.m. after receiving a 911 hang-up call.
Police said their investigation showed that John Quesnel, 54, of Cornwall entered a home and assaulted a person there. Police alleged that Quesnel violated his court-ordered conditions of release by having contact and assaulting the victim. Further, police say, he also gave a false sworn statement to the troopers.
Police cited Quesnel for domestic assault, giving false information to a police officer and violation of conditions of release.
