Otters earn road win to highlight boys’ basketball
ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school boys’ basketball play earlier this week Otter Valley picked up a key road win, but Mount Abraham and Vergennes fell short. Middlebury was idle.
OTTERS
The Otters steadily pulled away throughout to defeat host Hartford, 55-31, and avenge an early-season loss to the Hurricanes. Payson Williams’ 15 points led a balanced scoring effort for OV, which won for the fifth time in six outings and improved to 11-7.
The Otters are in a battle for the No. 7 through 10 seeds in Division II with Woodstock, Mill River and Enosburg. They host Woodstock on Tuesday before wrapping up with a game at top-four team MSJ on March 2.
EAGLES
On Monday host Enosburg edged the Eagles, 44-39. Mount Abe Coach Martin Clark said both teams played well defensively in a game that was close throughout, but the 8-7 Hornets made key shots in the late going. Noah Swainback led Enosburg with 17 points.
Jackson Counter scored 15 for the 6-11 Eagles, and Dustin Whitcomb andLogan Rodriguez added eight points apiece.
COMMODORES
Visiting BFA-St. Albans used a fast start to get past the Commodores, 53-39. The 12-4 Bobwhites led at halftime, 33-13. BFA is undefeated in Lake Division play.
Lance Bergmans scored 11 to lead the 4-12 Commodores, who will host MUHS this Thursday.
