Letter to the editor: Fuentes-George warrants support

I am writing in support of the candidacy of Lindsey Fuentes-George for Middlebury selectboard. I have interacted with Lindsey in her capacity both as a caring staff person at the Counseling Service of Addison County, and as a caring community member, and I am thrilled with her decision to run for the selectboard.
She is part of a “town-gown family,” as her husband, Kemi Fuentes-George, is an assistant professor of Political Science at Middlebury College. And, as she says, she “knows something about diversity,” as Kemi is black and hails from Jamaica. As the parent of three young kids, Lindsey understands the importance of ensuring that our schools are creating safe and inclusive environments for all children. She supports completing the long-delayed rail bridge project without further delay, but is also interested in ways to support downtown businesses adversely impacted by the construction.
In my experience, Lindsey is a good listener, who hopes to hear and be guided by her constituents’ priorities for the selectboard. I have confidence that Lindsey is an excellent candidate, and hope others will support her, as well.
