Letter to the editor: Citizen supports Fuentes-George, Kahn
Two vacancies on the Middlebury selectboard will be filled when we vote on Tuesday, March 6. I believe there are two candidates who are very well qualified and will serve Middlebury well.
Lindsey Fuentes-George may be a newcomer to public life in Middlebury, but the way she speaks about this town demonstrates that she has been thinking for some time about what life is like here and what could make it better. Her background as a parent of young children and a staff member at the Counseling Service will bring another perspective to leadership in Middlebury. She and her family live in East Middlebury. I believe that having an East Middlebury resident on the selectboard is important to everyone in town, not just the people who live in East Middlebury.
Farhad Khan began serving on the board one year ago. In this time he has shown himself to be a dedicated and conscientious public servant. I have heard him speak about the concerns of businesses in town and the need for more and different shopping opportunities here. Because he listens and looks for fair and positive answers to the issues facing our town, I believe he represents us all very well.
I am writing to encourage Middlebury friends and neighbors to be sure to vote on March 6 (or earlier if you go for the early voting option available until March 2) and to consider how good it will be to have Lindsey and Farhad on the selectboard for the coming term.
