MUHS Nordic girls ski to a fourth-place finish
HUNTINGTON — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ Nordic ski team on Saturday finished fourth among eight teams at a meet hosted by the Sleepy Hollow Nordic Center, with seniors Caroline Kimble and Katherine Koehler taking fifth and sixth, respectively.
U-32 and Champlain Valley tied for first place with 43 points, followed by Colchester (58) and the Tigers (71) in an eight-team field.
Kimble covered the 5K course in 17:43, with Koehler, who pulled away from an MMU skier in the last lap, right behind in 17:52. Also scoring for MUHS were Audrey Huston (25th in 19:46) and Isabel Olson (35th in 20:33). Maisie Newbury also competed and was 39th in 20:59.
Only three Tiger boys competed in the varsity race, not enough to score as a team. Owen Palcsik took 12th in 16:12, Will Carpenter was 15th in 16:18, and Gabe Cason finished 38th in 17:11.
