Local high school basketball teams net victories

BRISTOL — The Mount Abraham girls’ and Otter Valley boys’ and girls’ teams all won in high school basketball play earlier this week.
Postponements struck on Wednesday. The Eagle boys’ game at Vergennes was moved to Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and the Middlebury boys’ game at St. Albans game was also called off due to the countywide snow day. No make-up date was immediately announced for that contest.

EAGLE GIRLS
The Eagle girls trimmed visiting Missisquoi, 45-25, on Tuesday after taking a 23-10 halftime lead. Mount Abe improved to 10-4 with its sixth win in seven outings and held onto fourth place in Division II.
Forwards Emma Carter (22 points) and Emma Radler (nine) topped the Eagle scoring table, and guards Emma LaRose and Abby Mansfield teamed up for nine steals.
The Eagles are scheduled to host MUHS on Thursday and VUHS on Friday.
OV BOYS
The Otter boys moved back over .500 on Tuesday by topping winless Springfield, 69-55, in Brandon. Three Otters reached double figures as the Otters improved to 7-6: Josh Letourneau scored 17, Dylan Mackie had 16, and Jack Adams had 11. The Otters host D-II’s first place team, Mount St. Joseph, on Friday.
OV GIRLS
The OV girls on Monday pulled away in the fourth quarter to post a 52-39 victory over host Proctor. The game was tied at the half, 20-20, and OV led by 31-29 entering the fourth, when two hoops inside from Livia Bernhardt (10 points) and one from Alia Edmunds (13) helped pushed the lead to eight. Three free throws from Gabby Poalino (14) shortly afterwards made it 45-36 and OV rolled from there to improve to 4-9. Maddie Flanders scored 14 for Proctor (9-5).
