Middlebury Police Log: Woman revived after drug overdose
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Police helped revive a woman who had overdosed on drugs in the lobby of a Court Street building on Jan. 17.
Police said Middlebury Regional EMS officials found the woman to be unresponsive. Fortunately, an officer was equipped with Narcan, medication that stimulates bodily functions in a person who has stopped breathing due to drug overdose. Police administered it to the woman, who regained consciousness, according to authorities.
Ambulance staff then took the woman to Porter Hospital, police said.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Served a temporary restraining order on a man on Main Street on Jan. 16.
• Received a call about some alleged “drug activity” in town on Jan. 16.
• Issued parking tickets on Jan. 16 to some vehicles on College Street that were in violation of the town’s winter parking ban.
• Helped a driver whose vehicle had veered off Route 7 North on Jan. 17.
• Responded to a report of a group of unhealthy looking horses in a pasture off Route 7 North on Jan. 17. Police said the horses appeared to be healthy.
• Responded to the report of a stove fire on Methodist Lane on Jan. 17.
• Responded to a noise complaint at a Court Street apartment on Jan. 17.
• Responded to a report of a family dispute at the Addison County Courthouse on Jan. 17.
• Arranged for the removal of four vehicles that were impeding snow removal efforts on College Street on Jan. 17.
• Assisted Middlebury firefighters with a truck fire off Seymour Street on Jan. 18.
• Broke up a reported altercation between some people on North Pleasant Street on Jan. 19.
• Initiated an investigation into a suspected domestic assault on Jan. 19. Police provided no details on the location of the alleged incident.
• Investigated a report of a minor in possession of tobacco on Middlebury Union High School grounds on Jan. 19.
• Investigated a report on Jan. 19 of a local elementary school student having recently missed several days of school.
• Helped Vermont State Police investigate a disturbance involving an armed man in Leicester on Jan. 19.
• Investigated a “suspicious” vehicle that was parked behind a Court Street Extension business on Jan. 20.
• Located a mental health patient that had walked away from Porter Hospital without permission on Jan. 20.
• Were informed an underage person had tried to use a fake identification card to buy alcohol at a local store on Jan. 20.
• Took, to Porter Hospital, a local woman who had expressed thoughts about taking her own life on Jan. 20.
• Assisted state police in gathering information about a missing person in the Fields Road area on Jan. 21.
