MIDDLEBURY — Visiting U-32 rallied from a 3-0 deficit on Tuesday to deal the Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team a 4-3 overtime setback.
The Tigers fell to 5-4-1 despite outshooting the Raiders, 54-20. It was their fourth straight setback. Their Saturday game vs. Rutland was postponed. On this coming Saturday they will visit U-32 at 6:15 p.m.
Devon Kearns scored the first two Tiger goals, one in the first period and one in the second, both assisted by Tyler Giorgio, with Ben Turner and Kamrin Bartlett picking up the second assists. Hale Hescock made it 3-0, from Kolby Farnsworth, in the second, but the Raiders scored twice late in the second and once early in the third to knot the score.
In overtime U-32’s Zach Lague beat Tiger goalie Jeffrey Stearns (16 saves) with a penalty shot to give the 3-3 Raiders the win.
