Meals on Wheels in need of volunteer help

VERGENNES — Patricia Long, Community Meals Program Coordinator for Age Well, spoke to the Vergennes Lions Club on Wednesday night, Jan. 3. Her message was very clear: the Meals on Wheels Program is in desperate need of volunteer drivers/delivery people in the Bristol, Middlebury and Vergennes areas.
Long pointed out that for many folks the Meals drivers are the only person that they might see that day, and they look forward to the contact almost as much as they do the meal. She thanked the Lions members who are already volunteering, but stressed the need for more. Volunteers can choose what they would like to do — drive one route every week, every other week, or once a month, or they can choose to be subs, filling in where the need is and when they are interested in driving.
Long asked the members to pass her contact information on to friends and encourage them to volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Meals are distributed five days a week Monday through Friday. Folks interested in volunteering can call Long at 802-662-5218 or emailing her at [email protected].
