It is unfortunate that my remark of “shooting from the hip” in an Addison Independent article last Thursday was misunderstood, creating concern in the city, and I take full responsibility.
For many years as a manager, in both corporate and state, “hiring” the right individual for a position was never taken lightly. We always took the time to develop and polish a Strategic Formal Hiring Interview Process and I can guarantee the citizens of Vergennes this will not be handled lightly. Finding the right individual to fill the big shoes of Mel Hawley as city manager will be handled in the utmost professional manner, when the time comes.
