Exploring women and leadership; Middlebury College to host symposium this week
MIDDLEBURY — The first female editor-in-chief of Time magazine will be among the speakers featured late this week at Middlebury College’s “Women’s Leadership Symposium.”
Organized by a student organization called the Middlebury Women Leaders, the symposium from Thursday, Jan. 18, to Saturday, Jan. 20, will be comprised of workshops, lectures and discussions given and moderated by woman leaders such as Middlebury College President Laurie Patton and Time editor-in-chief Nancy Gibbs.
“We have purposely scheduled this symposium around the same weekend as the Women’s March from last year after Trump’s inauguration,” said Erin Van Gessel, the student club’s president. “We hope to commemorate that event and keep the female empowerment it generated alive as we begin 2018.”
The symposium aligns with the club’s mission, which is “to equip women with the leadership and networking skills to empower and enrich their professional and personal lives.”
All events are open to the public. More information can be found online at middlebury.edu/events. The full schedule is as follows:
