Middlebury girls’ ice hockey falls at Rutland
RUTLAND — Host Rutland took a 4-0 first-period lead on Wednesday on the way to a 6-1 victory over the Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team.
Megan Hamilton led the 4-2 Raiders with two goals and two assists, while Emma Mazzariello scored a goal and set up four scores. Raider goalie Amy Howard made 10 saves.
Polly Heminway scored the Tiger goal late in the first period to cut the Raider advantage to 4-1, but Rutland scored soon afterward to restore its four-goal lead. The Raiders tacked on their final goal late in the third. Tiger goalie Abby Hodsden made 25 saves.
The 2-4 Tigers will host Northfield on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and visit Rice on Saturday.
