I want to express my appreciation to the Outside Story’s Susie Spikol Faber for her beautiful piece on coyotes in the Dec. 7 issue (read the story by clicking here). In times as divisive as we are living in it was heartening to read her piece about understanding and appreciating the perspective of another, especially when that perspective is that of a species that is subject to such abuse and cruelty as the coyote is.
The last sentence in particular was a pleasure to read and highlights our commonalities with all living things. Here’s what she wrote: “If I could, I would grow my underfur too, and howl at the night sky as my own growing children begin to slip away to new terrain.”
