BFA tops Tiger girls on ice
MIDDLEBURY — Host BFA-St. Albans blanked the Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 6-0. The Tigers dropped to 1-2. Their Saturday home game vs. Essex was postponed.
MUHS will host its annual holiday tournament this Thursday and Friday. The Tigers have a pair of 5 p.m. games, vs. Champlain Valley/Mt. Mansfield on Thursday and vs. Spaulding on Friday.
The Tiger boys’ Saturday home game vs. U-32 was also postponed. The 3-0-1 Tiger boys will share the Memorial Sports Center with the girls’ team this Thursday and Friday, hosting Milton and Lake Placid, respectively, at 7 p.m. both nights.
On Dec. 20 the Comets improved to 3-0 at the Tiger girls’ expense, with all three wins coming by shutout. The Tigers stayed close for a period, trailing by only 1-0 entering the second, but BFA broke it open in the second period with three goals.
Lizzie Hill sparked BFA with a hat trick, and goalies Maddie Hungerford and Macey Boissonneault combined for 19 saves. Abby Hodsden stopped 22 shots for the Tigers.
