ADDISON COUNTY — This past Friday, Dec. 8, at a quarter after 5 p.m. Vermont State Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Route 7 at the intersection with Greenbush Road in Ferrisburgh. The Vergennes and Ferrisburgh fire departments and Vergennes Area Rescue Squad also scrambled to the scene.
Troopers found that Patricia Wilson, 49, of Benson was driving a 2005 Range Rover southbound on Route 7 when a red truck travelling eastbound on Greenbush Road entered Route 7 and struck the rear end of Wilson’s Rover, causing the Rover to roll over several times in the road.
The driver of the red truck apparently checked on the wellbeing of Wilson and the two young passengers in her car before leaving the scene before police arrived.
Wilson and her two passengers were transported to UVM Medical Center for evaluation and treatment for suspected minor injuries. Troopers searched the area for the red truck but did not find it.
Then on Sunday, Dec. 10, an attorney representing 32-year-old Tucker Bond-Watts of Ferrisburgh presented Bond-Watts at the New Haven state police barracks identifying him as the driver of the red truck involved in the crash.
Police cited Bond-Watts for leaving the scene of a crash and for careless and negligent driving; he pleaded not guilty to the charges in Addison Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Monday.

Meanwhile, between Dec. 5 and 10, state police in Addison County cited three men for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in separate incidents.
First, on Dec. 5 state police responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven off the road, through a field and parked off Maple Street in Salisbury. While responding troopers received information the vehicle had driven into a pond.
State police arrived on scene and made contact with the driver, who they identified as 64-year-old Charles Morris of Salisbury, and detected signs of alcohol impairment. Middlebury Regional EMS took Morris to Porter Medical Center for injuries sustained from driving into the pond. At Porter, police processed and cited Morris for DUI.
Then, on Dec. 7 at just before 9:30 p.m. troopers were dispatched to a Route 30 home in Cornwall for a reported family fight. While state police were in route to the residence Justin David Lyons, 43, of Stuart, Fla., left the scene, according to police. Troopers located Lyons’ vehicle and stopped it. Police report that they determined Lyons was driving while under the influence of intoxicants, so they cited him for DUI and unlawful mischief and transported him to the Act 1 detox facility in Burlington.
Finally, on Dec. 8 at a little after 10 p.m. troopers responded to Ferson Road in Leicester for a report of a vehicle that had driven off the road. Police reported that the driver, identified as 21-year-old Nicholas C. Perry of Forestdale, appeared to be impaired and he was subsequently cited for DUI.
Troopers from the New Haven barracks, along with other participating area law enforcement agencies in Addison County, will conduct a series of DUI checkpoints and focused saturation patrols throughout Addison County during the rest of the month of December. Their intent is to promote highway safety by identifying and removing impaired drivers and reducing impaired driving related crashes.
“Our goal is to ensure the safest roadways possible for you and your families this holiday season,” Sgt. Aron McNeil, patrol commander of the New Haven barracks, said in a press release.
