Mary’s Restaurant to host free holiday meal Dec. 17

BRISTOL — Bristol’s Christmas Dinner and Festival has become an anticipated tradition in this community for over three decades. This year’s celebration — the 35th — is planned for Sunday, Dec. 17, at Mary’s at Baldwin Creek in Bristol.
The dinner and festivities start at 11:30 a.m. and continue until all are served. Mary’s at Baldwin Creek provides the bountiful meal and coordinates the event, from entertainment to home-deliveries and transportation. Many dozens of volunteers help at the event.
This holiday event is free and all Addison County residents are invited to share in the holiday spirit.
A bountiful turkey and ham dinner buffet paired with superb local entertainment are the highlights of this annual event.
Usually more than 300 county residents partake in the festivities, from seniors delighted to share the warmth of the holiday spirit with friends and neighbors to families with young children who appreciate the great food and joyful atmosphere. And for many, the most anticipated thrill is talking with Santa — who always finds time to stop by to see the children. Many local musicians and performers entertain throughout the day.
If you are an entertainer and would like to volunteer, please call Rick at 802-453-4613.
As always, free transportation is available to those needing a ride to and from Mary’s, which is located at the intersection of Route 17 East and Route 116 North in Bristol. Again this year Addison County Transit Resources will offer a special bus route to the luncheon. Please contact them directly for scheduled pick-ups.
Home delivered meals for shut-ins are also delivered throughout the day. Last year nearly 100 home deliveries were made. Requests for transportation and home delivery to shut-ins must be received by Thursday, Dec. 14. Call 802-453-2432 to reserve a ride or home delivery.
Food donations are always welcomed. For additional information or to inquire about donating please contact Linda Harmon at Mary’s at Baldwin Creek. 802-453-2432.
