Regarding Bruce Hiland’s letter to editor published Nov. 23: His point is that the rail project through Middlebury needs a fresh look because it’s getting out of hand. I think he’s right.
It’s like a project starts with putting on a new roof and in the end you’ve added a second floor. Having a second floor is nice but at this time, not necessary. We’re trying to save our downtown not drive it out of business.
The rail project has been a real damper to shopping downtown. It used to be fun to go downtown this time of the year. I don’t expect to go this year.
