East Monkton Church to host musical ‘Celebration of Christmas’ Dec. 17
Monkton will host a “Celebration of Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 17, at the East Monkton Church, 3256 Mountain Road.
Beginning at 4 p.m., talented musicians Lausanne Allen and Rick Ceballos will fill the church with their lively melodies and songs.
Since 1991, this pair has enjoyed playing in a host of bands together, leading their musical friendship to continue and bear new fruit as a duo. Allen, from South Starksboro, plays fiddle, flute and whistle, and is currently a member of Va et Vient. Ceballos, from Bristol, plays five-string banjo, fretless banjo, button accordion and bones, and plays in Daddy Long Legs. He is currently working to compile over 40 years of his original compositions for publication.
These two people will offer up some of their favorite toe tapping old-time songs and Appalachian fiddle tunes, a few of Rick’s original melodies and, of course, some familiar songs of the season.
This event, sponsored by the East Monkton Church Association, is free. Donations are always welcome and appreciated.
There will be an opportunity to have refreshments and conversation after with friends and neighbors. All are welcome! Please note there are no restroom facilities at the church.
