New Haven to host holiday party on Dec. 16
NEW HAVEN — The Town of New Haven and the New Haven Congregational Church are throwing a holiday party. Their Winterfest celebration will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, on the town green.
Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with tasty treats and hot refreshments at the Congregational Church located on Town Hill Road across from the Town Green. Bundle up, get a cup of hot cocoa, tea, coffee, eggnog or cider, and come across the street to the town green.
At 5 p.m., the Memorial Tree, sponsored by the New Haven Volunteer Fire Department, will be lit on the town green. From 5-6 p.m. decorate the Memorial Tree, have a horse drawn wagon ride, warm hands by the fire barrels, make and eat s’mores, sing carols, and roast marshmallows and chestnuts on the town green with family, friends and neighbors while waiting for Santa to arrive at the bandstand around 5 p.m.
The magical sounds of hand bell ringing, caroling with the choir, and sing-a-long will begin at 6 p.m. at the New Haven Congregational Church. Free hot refreshments and yummy desserts will follow downstairs in the Church.
Get together with family, friends and neighbors for some, or all of the free festivities and good cheer. All are welcome and all locations are ADA accessible.
