Boys’ soccer players earn league nods

ADDISON COUNTY — Twenty-two members of the Middlebury, Mount Abraham, Otter Valley and Vergennes union high school boys’ soccer teams earned postseason accolades from league and statewide soccer coaches.
Eight were named as either Division I, II or III all-state players: Vermont coaches chose MUHS senior goalie Santiago Fernandez and sophomore midfield Eben Jackson in D-I, Mount Abe senior midfielder Nick Catlin and senior defender Will Schoenhuber in D-II, OV senior striker Josh Letourneau and senior midfielder Maxwell Williams in D-II, and VUHS senior defender/midfielder Ben Kayhart and junior midfielder/striker Ezekiel Palmer in D-III.
In addition, Fernandez earned Defensive Player of the Year honors from the Lake Division. Three of his Tiger teammates joined him as First-Team Lake all-stars, Jackson, senior striker Camden Simpson, and junior defender Tucker Moulton. In addition, MUHS Coach Reeves Livesay was voted the Lake Division Coach of the Year after the Tigers won the league title.
Three Eagles made the Lake first team: Catlin, Schoenhuber, and junior striker William Wright. They were joined by Palmer from VUHS.
Letourneau and Williams were chosen as Marble Valley League B Division First-Team all-stars, and they were joined by senior midfielder Justin Tremblay on the MVL First Team.
Area Lake Division Second Team picks were Kayhart and sophomore midfielder Josias Salomao from VUHS, junior midfielder Ben Turner and senior midfielder Tyler Giorgio from MUHS, and three Eagles, senior defenders Jackson Counter and Eli Rickner and sophomore midfielder Eric McKean.
Two Otters earned Second Team MVL nods, senior defender Sawyer Heath and junior midfielder Ethan Sulik-Doty. 
Finally, two players earned Honorable Mention from the Lake coaches, VUHS sophomore goalie Jeffrey Stearns and MUHS junior defender Ben Crawford.
