Note of appreciation: Thanks for all who helped make Halloween special for seniors at Porter
Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center gives a Great Big Thank You to all community members who worked with us to make the Medieval Castle and Pumpkin Display possible with over 200 carved and lit pumpkins. This is truly a community event, both supported and enjoyed by our community that literally hundreds of our area residents are a part of.
We want to thank Lester Farm, Elmer Farm, and many generous individuals for their pumpkin donations as well as the Middlebury Players and the White River Valley Players for use of their props and costumes. Thank you to the homeschoolers, high school students, Helen Porter staff, family members and volunteers who cleaned and carved pumpkins. Volunteers also helped make props, set up the castle, dress mannequins, light pumpkins, serve refreshments, clean up and more. Our activities department created and organized all of this to make it come together for the residents and community.
After the show many carved pumpkins were chosen to decorate for parties and local homes. Pumpkin seeds were roasted and the remaining pumpkins were picked up for livestock feed by local farmers to continue to share our pumpkin time. Thanks to all who joined with us to make such a beautiful community event here at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
