Note of appreciation: Many helped 97-year-old Ripton resident get by without electricity
Our state certainly could be thankful for 64 degrees with our power off, which it was for six days or more after the recent wind storm. Some different storm; we could remember the hurricane in 1950.
I wish to thank so many folks who looked after me and other folks during the dark nights without lights and telephones and getting us water to drink and use after heating on my wood cook stove. One neighbor got me an Energizer head lamp. That was very helpful to wear while cooking food. A son came to invite me to their home but I had to say “thank you” and say “no” to my son — Tom Tom kitty cannot be here alone.
Finally we could rejoice when the Green Mountain Power trucks and workers arrived and worked for days and finally the people in the Fairpoint telephone truck worked too for days.
So my neighbor, Sarah, and I went out to take pictures and thank the workers.
