Notte pizza to open Nov. 16 in Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — A new pizza joint is coming to Middlebury’s Main Street.
Notte, a Neapolitan-style pizzeria, will open in the former Two Brothers Lounge space on Thursday, Nov. 16. The Lounge is under Two Brothers Tavern at 86 Main St.
Notte (pronounced “no·tay,” the Italian word for “night”) will feature Italian-style appetizers, salads and brick-oven pizzas; as well as old-world wines, Italian-inspired cocktails and local craft brews. Notte will also offer late night entertainment, carrying on the tradition of Two Brothers Lounge & Stage.
The idea for Notte began last winter, when Two Brothers Tavern had to build a temporary kitchen in its Lounge space to prepare food while its main kitchen was being renovated for three months. Due to the restrictions of a basement kitchen, pizza ovens were one of the few options available to them. The plan had been to tear out the temporary kitchen after the renovations were complete, but the pizza they served was so well-received that business owners decided to offer it permanently.
To do so, they knew that they had to make the space more comfortable for diners. As such, they’ve spent the last few months updating the décor with comfortable banquette seating, upholstered chairs, a fireplace and numerous other improvements. The result is a cozy, family-friendly space that they hope will be a welcome addition to Middlebury’s diverse dining scene.
Notte’s Italian-influenced theme is intended to complement the local pizza options, not necessarily compete with them. The menu features local meat and cheese boards, authentic antipasti, and the thin crust pizzas that Naples area is famous for. Notte’s resident mixologists have been busy crafting classic Italian-style cocktails (such as Negroni’s) with local flare; and owner Holmes Jacobs aims to make the wine list both adventurous and accessible.
Late night, Notte will continue to feature a mix of live bands, DJs, trivia and karaoke throughout the week. Homes says these music offerings will not interfere with the dining atmosphere earlier in the evening.
Notte will be open from 5 p.m.–1 a.m., Tuesday-Saturday. Menus and entertainment listings can be viewed online at nottevt.com.
