Tiger football falls to BFA-St. Albans in last game
ST. ALBANS — The Middlebury Union High School football team’s season came to an end on Friday, when the No. 5 Tigers fell to host No. 4 BFA-St. Albans, 34-20, in a Division I quarterfinal.
The 5-4 Tigers drew first blood on a 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cody Pomainville to Zach Dunn that made it 6-0.
But the 7-2 Bobwhites responded with the next 20 points to lead by 20-6 at the half: a 42-yard Griffin Knapp touchdown run, two 31-yard Kam Dunsmore field goals, and quarterback Nate Laughlin’s 41-yard touchdown to Mark Howrigan.
The Tigers twice made it a one-score game after the break. A Cooper Bullock touchdown run made it 20-13, but the Bobwhites answered with Knapp scoring from six yards out just after a Nate Parady 55-yard run.
Pomainville later in the third period tossed a 35-yard TD pass to Dunn, but a Laughlin-to-Howrigan 10-yard TD pass created the final score.
