In high school soccer: Otter boys fall; MUHS, VUHS host

ADDISON COUNTY — The Otter Valley Union High School boys’ soccer team, seeded No. 10 in the Division II playoffs, bowed out on Tuesday.
Mount Abraham, at 9-5 the No. 5 seed in D-II, also played on Tuesday; see story on Page 1B.
Middlebury (9-1-3) earned the No. 5 seed in D-I and had been scheduled to host No. 12 Brattleboro (5-8-1) on Tuesday. But Tuesday’s early forecast of afternoon thunderstorms and the Colonels’ long drive led school officials to postpone that game to Wednesday, after the deadline for this paper. If the Tigers won they will almost certainly travel to meet No. 4 Burlington (11-2) on Friday at 3 p.m.
Vergennes (6-6-1) earned the No. 7 seed in D-II and was set to host No. 10 Hazen (5-9) on Wednesday afternoon. If the Commodores prevailed they will travel to meet No. 2 Stowe on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Otters were originally seeded No. 11, but the seeds were re-evaluated and they were bumped up to No. 10 after the pairings were originally released, with Stratton dropping from No. 10 to No. 11.
That meant OV visited Marble Valley League rival Woodstock on Tuesday, and the 9-4-2 Wasps defeated the Otters for the third time this fall, this time by 3-0.
OV concluded its most successful season in at least two decades with an 8-6-1 mark.
