MONKTON — All are welcome to join in on the fun for “Halloween Story Hour” at the Russell Memorial Library on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10-11 a.m. There will be stories, songs and the chance to do a simple holiday craft for those who want to participate. Costumes are welcome, but not required.
Also, “Trick or Treat at the Library” will be on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The Russell Memorial Library will be open from 3-7:00 p.m. for this traditional celebration of the holiday. Every child who stops by will receive a candy treat and a free book. Make sure to wear your costumes to show off your creations and creatures. Another Halloween celebration will be held at the Monkton Friends Methodist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The church will be hosting their annual “Trunk or Treat” event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. Kids will be able to trick or treat around the parking lot, then go inside to join in on crafts, games and hot chocolate. If anyone is interested in handing out treats, please come to the parking lot before 5:30 and open your trunk or tailgate for the ghosts, goblins and characters that will be arriving. You can have simple decorations on your vehicle, but they aren’t required. Call Teri at 802-453-4918 with any questions.
The fall Sunday School program welcomes families with children from grades pre-K through 6 to join anytime. Breakfast is offered at 8:30 a.m. followed by the worship service at 8:45 a.m., which they can attend for a few minutes. A new Youth Group for students in grades 7 through 12 is planning activities and outings every few weeks. Fun, fellowship and service are the themes. All are welcome. Both the Sunday School and the Youth Group will be planning a multi-age Christmas Pageant in the next few weeks. Come join in to worship and have fun.
