ACORN to unite food sellers and buyers at Nov. 2 forum

MIDDLEBURY — Addison County Relocalization Network, known as ACORN, on Nov. 2 will host its annual gathering that connects people and organizations that produce food with those who buy it.
All growers, food producers, buyers and distributors are invited to attend the Producers and Buyers Forum: Local to Global, which will take place at Middlebury College’s Wilson Hall in the McCullough Student Center. The forum will include a keynote speech by Greg Georgaklis of Farmers to You, round table discussions on emerging local food markets, the Amazon effect, ingredient and distribution trends, and future opportunities.
The event runs from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. with a local foods lunch.
Organizers promised that there will also be breakout sessions with plenty of time for networking.
Panelists will include Jonathan Slason of RFP Logistics, Kathleen Norris of Homestead Hops, Gemma DiPalma of Five Acres Farm, Ben Maniscalco of Benito’s Hot Sauce and Dan Chang of Kria CBD products, among other notable speakers.
ACORN hosted the first forum in March of 2016 to bring together buyers and producers around topics of interest to increase distribution opportunities. The hope is to make the forum a great opportunity to develop new relationships and stimulate new business.
“As we strive to increase the use of local foods, our efforts are enhanced when we bring buyers and producers together,” says ACORN Executive Director Lynn Coale.
Join the engaging conversations on the state of local and regional markets. All food categories are welcome, but space is very limited. Tickets are $20 and include coffee, light refreshments and a local foods lunch. Purchase them online at acornvt.org.
Direct questions to ACORN Executive Committee Member Annie Harlow at 802-922-7060.
