Commodore girls fall to visiting Rice

VERGENNES — Visiting Rice blanked the injury-plagued Vergennes Union High School girls’ soccer team on Tuesday, 11-0. Rice, the first-place team in Division II, improved to 11-2.
The Commodores dropped to 3-10 despite 11 saves from goalie Anya Sonwaldt.
According to Vermont Principals’ Association standings as of Wednesday morning the Commodores were in 13th place in D-III. They could move up a notch, however, with a victory at winless D-II foe Missisquoi on Friday, also depending on results elsewhere.
