MAHA offering free ice hockey programs for youngsters

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Amateur Hockey Association is once again this winter offering its introductory Girls Learn to Play Hockey and Try Hockey for Free programs.
MAHA emphasizes the six-week Girls Learn to Play Hockey program, held at the Memorial Sports Center in Middlebury, is as much about having fun and creating new friendships as it is about learning hockey.
No experience is required, and coaches will teach the basics of hockey on Sundays and Tuesdays between Nov. 19 and Dec. 31. Those interested may learn more or register at middhockey.com.
MAHA will host two Try Hockey for Free events this winter for children between the ages of 4 and 9, also at the Memorial Sports Center. The dates will be on Nov. 4 and March 3 at times to be announced at middhockey.com.
According to MAHA, Try Hockey for Free is designed to provide kids a completely free experience to try youth hockey. A limited amount of equipment is available to borrow. MAHA coaches will assist children in learning the basics, and participants do not need any previous skating or hockey experience.
