Otters prevail, Mount Abe falls in field hockey
ADDISON COUNTY — In high school field hockey action in the latter half of last week Otter Valley picked up a road win, while Mount Abraham dropped a close home decision.
Middlebury’s home game on Wednesday vs. Burlington was postponed until Oct. 9 due to excessive heat and humidity.
OTTERS
On Thursday Otter Valley defeated host Marble Valley League rival Woodstock, 1-0. Alia Edmunds scored the game-winner with an assist from Morgan LaPorte at 26:37 of the second half. Coach Stacey Edmunds-Brickell said Jadynn Pope andJordan Laraway also had strong efforts for the Otters in a game moved to Thursday from Wednesday due to heat.
Woodstock goalie Maggie Parker had seven saves as the Wasps dropped to 1-3-2, while Ellie Ross stopped nine shots as OV moved to 4-2-1.
EAGLES
On Wednesday visiting Division I foe Colchester improved to 6-1 by edging the Eagles, 1-0. The Lakers’ Meg Lehouiller scored in the second half and Laker goalie Cierra Morse stopped three Eagle bids. Mount Abe goalie Chessley Jackman made 13 saves as the Eagles dropped to 3-3-2. That game’s start time was pushed back until later in the afternoon due to heat.
