Boys’ soccer teams prevail
ADDISON COUNTY — The Otter Valley, Mount Abraham and Middlebury union high school boys’ soccer teams all won games late last week, while Vergennes was idle and will play on the road on Monday.
TIGERS
On Friday the Tigers moved to 4-1-2 by defeating host Milton, 2-1. MUHS scored twice in the second half to rally from a halftime deficit. Ben Turner tied the game, and Tyler Giorgio notched the game-winner with five minutes to go, converting an Eben Jackson assist. Goalie Santiago Fernandez made four saves for MUHS, and Jacob Whitcomb made seven saves for Milton (4-3).
OTTERS
On Thursday the Otters edged Arlington, 1-0, in the consolation game of Arlington’s four-team tournament. OV tied Springfield earlier in the week, 1-1, in the opening round, but the Cosmos advanced to the final in the second round of penalty kicks.
Josh Letourneau’s goal for OV early second half held up as the game-winner for OV, which improved to 4-2-1. Otter goalie Clay Hays made seven saves to earn the shutout, the Otters’ fourth in seven outings. Bailey Cross stopped five shots for Arlington.
EAGLES
On Friday, the Eagles blanked host Missisquoi, 2-0, getting goals from William Wright andSilas Burgess, both assisted by Eric McKean. Mount Abe outshot MVU, 14-3, and goalie Ethan DeWitt made two saves as the Eagles improved to 5-3.
