Ilsley expands archive of films from New Filmmakers Festival

MIDDLEBURY — The next installment of donated Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival films has arrived at Ilsley Public Library and is now available for viewing by library card holders. MNFF has donated an additional 30 films to the library, growning its archive to more than 50 films. The donation is comprised of BluRay format films that were screened during the 2nd Annual event in the summer of 2016.
Titles include the VTeddy Award-winning short films “Pony,”  “The Best and Worst Days of George Morales’ Unnaturally Long Life” and “Phil’s Camino.” Prominent feature films include the powerful documentaries “Radical Grace” and “Huntwatch,” as well as the narrative VTeddy winner “Broke.”
The partnership between MNFF and Ilsley Library was established in 2016 with the express purpose of making Festival films available to the community. The films can be found on a featured shelf of the DVD collection on the Library’s first floor.
“Ilsley Library is delighted to see this important collection of films continue to grow and we thank the filmmakers for making their work available to our community,” said Christopher Kirby, Ilsley’s Librarian for Adult Services & Technology.  “With over 50 films, the MNFF donation enriches the Library’s independent film offerings.”
“MNFF is deeply committed to community outreach and the Archive at Ilsley is fast becoming a great way to help our Festival audiences and others see many of the fine films that they might have missed during the event,” said Lloyd Komesar, MNFF Producer.  “It is generous of our filmmakers to give consent for their work to be seen and we sincerely appreciate Ilsley Library’s willingness to make these films available.”
This year’s recently concluded 3rd Annual Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival brought over 3,000 filmgoers to view 93 movies  at five venues around Middlebury MNFF4 is scheduled for August 23-26, 2018. More about the Festival, including the highlights from MNFF3, is available at the MNFF website, middfilmfest.org.
