Bristol’s Hill wins scholarship from Agri-Mark

BRISTOL — In order to provide financial assistance to their farm family owners, Agri-Mark Family Farms typically offer 10 post-secondary education scholarships of $1,000 each.
Members of Agri-Mark farm families are encouraged to apply and are judged based on their community activities, school activities, financial need, dairy activities and career objective. The applications are judged by the three Young Cooperator Program Officers and the three program advisors, who are also members of the board of directors.
This year’s Robert Jacquier Memorial Scholarship award-winner is Britney Hill of Four Hills Farm in Bristol. Hill studied at SUNY Cobleskill for two years and is a rising senior at Cornell University studying Animal Science.
She is a member of the Red and White Junior Member Board and Vermont Junior Ayrshire Club. She is very involved in her community through the Cornell University Dairy Science Club, Cornell Western Equestrian Team, and her professional agricultural sorority Sigma Alpha.
Hill plans to return to her family’s dairy farm, where she hopes to improve the genetics on her farm to increase herd components, and open the farm to public tours to inform consumers about agricultural production. She is looking forward to completing her final year at Cornell and continuing her career in dairy herd management upon graduation.
The Robert A. Jacquier Scholarship Award, named for the late Robert Jacquier of Laurel Brook Farm in East Canaan, Conn., is awarded to the top scoring applicant and comes with an additional $1,000.
