Student of the Week, 9/18/2017, Andrea “Andi” Boe

Middlebury Union High School is pleased to introduce Andrea “Andi” Boe, a lifelong resident of Middlebury, as our first student of the week. She is the daughter of Kathy and Kelly Boe and a member of the Class of 2018 at MUHS. Her older sister, Sara, is a senior at McGill University in Montreal.
Andi was the recipient of one of the school’s highest honors in the spring of her junior year when she was presented with the Dorey Cup. It is given annually to a male and female student based on their academic record, athletic ability and leadership skills.
Andi attended St. Mary’s and MUMS prior to enrolling at the high school, where she is actively involved as a Tiger. A three-sport athlete, Andi plays center mid on the varsity soccer team and is a forward on the hockey and lacrosse teams. She says with a smile, “I can’t choose a favorite sport as I love each of them equally!” Andi admits that winning the Vermont Division I state championships in lacrosse last spring was a special highlight.
Her other activities in high school include being involved in the Student Senate and serving as a Peer Leader to entering ninth-graders. As Andi reflects back on her first three years in high school, she appreciates her friends, the challenging classes and the opportunity to have been involved in sports. Andi volunteers at Charter House in Middlebury, where she prepares community dinners. She has enjoyed participating in the farm-to-table dinners through a joint program with the Nash Farm in New Haven. Produce from the farm is used to prepare healthy dinners to community members at Charter House. Andi is excited about her senior year in which she will take several Advanced Placement classes and serve as a TA in Spanish.
Andi enjoyed the summer and worked as a house painter in Addison County. She took a brief break and attended a 10-day summer college immersion at Boston University, where she studied journalism and law. Andi found it to be a wonderful introduction to college study and life in the city and enjoyed meeting other students from around the country. It further confirmed her desire to focus her college search on institutions that are located in the northeastern corridor.
Andi’s positive attitude and outlook are greatly appreciated at MUHS where she is a valued member of the school community. We’re confident she is in for a great senior year and are excited to see her many contributions in the classroom, on the fields, and on the ice this season.
