Local high school field hockey squads defeated

ADDISON COUNTY — Area high school field hockey teams hit bumps in the road late last week, as a tie for Otter Valley proved to be the only positive result in five collective outings for OV, Mount Abraham and Middlebury.
OTTERS
On Wednesday visiting Mount Anthony got a dozen saves from goalie Savannah Rogers in holding OV to a 0-0 stalemate. Otter goalie Ellie Ross stopped six shots in a game in which OV earned 12 penalty corners to the Patriots’ five.
On Friday, host Rutland dealt the 3-1-1 Otters their first setback, 3-0. The Raiders scored twice in the first half and held OV to four shots on goal, all of which Raider goalie Emily Lanzillo denied. Ross made seven saves for the Otters.
EAGLES
On Wednesday host Colchester edged the Eagles, 1-0 on an early Petra Bajuk goal. The Lakers improved to 4-0 as Mount Abe took its first setback. Laker goalie Ciera Morse and Eagle goalie Chessley Jackman each were credited with three saves.
On Friday host Mount Mansfield allowed only one shot on its goal in a 2-0 win over the Eagles. A Cougar defender stopped that shot. Jackman stopped six shots as the Eagles dropped to 3-2.
TIGERS
On Wednesday visiting South Burlington remained undefeated with a 5-1 victory over the Tigers. The 4-0 Wolves took charge with four first-half goals. Phoebe Smith scored for the 0-3 Tigers.
