Eagles, OV win in field hockey
ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school field hockey action in the latter part of last week Mount Abraham and Otter Valley picked up wins, but Middlebury dropped its season opener.

EAGLES
On Wednesday the Eagles improved to 2-0 and posted their second straight shutout by blanking host U-32, 3-0. Jalen Cook, Elizabeth Nault and Emily Aldrich found the cage for Mount Abe, and Chessley Jackman worked the shutout. Elizabeth Guthrie made 14 saves for the Raiders.
TIGERS
On Thursday host Champlain Valley rolled to an 8-2 victory over MUHS in the Tigers’ opener. Lydia Maitland’s two goals and two assists led the Redhawks, and CVU goalie Kristy Carlson made three saves.
Phoebe Smith andMaeve Hammel put in the Tiger goals, and goalie Bridget Audet stopped 21 shots.
OTTERS
On Friday, the Otters (2-0) shut down visiting Fair Haven, 8-0. Alia Edmunds led the OV attack with three goals and three assists, Sophie Markowski scored twice, Morgan LaPorte chipped in a goal and two assists, and Chelsea Reed and Isabella Falco added a goal apiece. OV goalie Ellie Ross stopped one shot, and the Slaters’ Jordyn Howard made 16 saves.
