Letter to the Editor: Talks continue on nurses pact
Porter Medical Center is in the midst of negotiating a new contract with our nurses’ union. The process has been underway for many months and has been generally constructive. It is now coming down to the final stages of negotiations, which typically include public demonstrations by the union (lawn signs, letters to the editor and telephone calls to community members) in order to generate community support.
On behalf of Porter and our 800 caring, compassionate and highly competent employees, we simply want to assure our community that Porter is working hard to finalize the terms of the contract in a fair and equitable manner, and that our hospital, provider practices and nursing home remain ready to serve you and to meet your health care needs today and every day.
