Letter to the Editor: Ilsley Library needn’t be a lot bigger

When can we simply enjoy and savor the things around us? The constant expansions, “bigger is better” philosophy is too overwhelming.
I love the charm of Isley Library’s quaintness and small size. Why does everything need to be super-sized? The college library is a few steps away, and it is available to everyone; it is quite roomy, and there is an abundant inventory of wonderful books.
Let’s try to restore Middlebury’s original historical architecture instead of blasting through its structures. We really have to be careful not to lose what we already have. One point of interest is to explore the restoration of the turret that used to be on top of the Battell Building; that is a worthy, reasonable endeavor.
Enough already. We are supposed to be enjoying the fruits of a rural town. People can go to cities to appreciate their offerings. Let’s keep them separate, please.
