ANWSD negotiators strike a deal on a new teachers contract
VERGENNES — The Addison Northwest School District (ANWSD) and Addison Northwest Teachers’ Association have tentatively agreed on a new, two-year contract. Mark Koenig, a leader of the ANWSD board negotiating team, said the two sides reached the tentative deal at around 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, following a mediated session that lasted more than 11 hours.
The last teachers contract ran through June 30.
Officials will be able to discuss specific terms of the contract once it is ratified by both sides. Addison Northwest teachers are slated to vote on the deal on Thursday, Sept. 7. The ANWSD board is scheduled to vote on the document at its next scheduled meeting, on Sept. 11.
The proposed contract will cover the approximately 100 educators at Vergennes Union High School, Vergennes Union Elementary School, and the elementary schools in Addison and Ferrisburgh.
The tentative agreement comes only days after the Addison Northwest Support Staff Association (ANSSA) and the ANWSD board agreed on a new, two-year pact that includes annual pay increases and a requirement that the roughly 100 district staffers pay more for their health insurance.
