Bixby to host blowout book sale on Vergennes Day
VERGENNES — What did you spend your summer doing?
Friends of the Bixby have sorted and shelved an array of summer donations of used books and they will open the doors for a two-day sales event at the end of this week.
As part of Vergennes Day celebrations, everyone is invited to come in Friday, Aug. 25, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. for first dibs on newly received books. Or, come by on Saturday, Aug. 26, during regular sale hours, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m., when many of the offerings will be set up in front of the library (weather permitting).
The used book selections include fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, cookbooks, craft books, audiobooks, Christmas-themed books, gardening, biography, Vermont-themed or Vermont authored offerings and much more. This special sale will feature 2-for-the price-of-1 sales. No book will cost more than $2.
So many children’s books were received this summer that the shelves are full. Volunteer Carol Kress will have a selected area set up with boxes of children’s books. There are first-rate hardcover books and extensive offerings for young adults. Children’s books are 25 cents.
Look for the sale on the lower level of the Bixby Memorial Library, 258 Main St. All profits benefit the library.
