Letters to the Editor: Sports column a joy to read

Karl Lindholm’s article on the great black baseball player, Spottswood Poles, captures a time when African Americans had to fight on two fronts — one at home against racial discrimination and the other on the bloody battlefields of the Western Front in World War I, ironically, to keep the world safe for democracy. Karl’s scholarship on black baseball players is a treasure. Thanks, Karl.
