WAITSFIELD — Vermonters of all ages are invited to attend a presentation about Vermont’s black bears by Tom Rogers of Vermont Fish & Wildlife at the Waitsfield Library on Tuesday, Aug. 1. at 6:30 p.m.
Rogers is a biologist who has worked on a variety of conservation projects, from zebras in Kenya to sage grouse and bald eagles in Wyoming. His graduate research focused on large carnivores in the Yellowstone ecosystem, particularly grizzly bears and black bears. Rogers currently works in outreach for the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, connecting the public with fish and wildlife through writing and photography.
Through colorful photos and captivating stories, the audience will come away with a new appreciation for these intelligent animals. Rogers will talk about the extraordinary life history of bears, their ecology and behaviors, and what people can do to better co-exist with bears.
“Bears are fascinating animals and are sometimes feared or misunderstood,” said Rogers.  “We’ll talk about the challenges they face and what people can do to help conserve bears here in Vermont.”
