Vergennes Champs put up a fight but fall to visiting Essex
VERGENNES — The Vergennes Champs held their own against the visiting Town of Essex Swim Team on Thursday, but the larger TEST squad prevailed, 255-214, in a chilly Champlain Valley Swim League meet.
Will Clark, Carson Hoffmann and Max Ratti-Bicknell won three races each for the Champs, and Jordan Jewell prevailed twice.
CVSL teams are entering the final week of the regular season. The Champs will make the short trip to visit friendly local rival Middlebury on Tuesday, and are scheduled to host Burlington Country Club on Thursday.
Champs scoring points with top-three finishes in individual events on Thursday were:
